Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund
Mission statement
The Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund, established in 2010, is a tribute to the memory of SOCS Tom Valentine. Tom was an elite warrior who lived his life in accordance with the special operator’s code, which all SEALs strive to attain. Tom was fiercely loyal to his country, his team and his teammates; he served with honor and integrity on and off the battlefield; he stood ready to lead, ready to follow, and he never quit; he always took responsibility for his actions and those of his teammates; he excelled as a warrior through discipline and innovation; and he trained for war and fought to win at all costs against our nation’s enemies.
Through the Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund, we will fill the interim needs of the surviving spouses and children of our fallen warriors. The short term and long terms needs have been met through various organizations. It's the in between needs, i.e. legal fees (wills, estate management fees, etc.); household & auto repairs. Counseling assistance (outside of the military chain) and so on that we need to cover. Their needs are many, their needs are great. Through the Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund we can alleviate some of the financial burdens that arise months after the funeral.
The Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund will continue to support the efforts of the Naval SEAL Foundation and other organizations with the mission of supporting of the Naval Special Forces community.
The Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund will be managed by CharitySmith group a nonprofit organization that helps maintain and administer memorial funds. We will maintain the integrity of the Fund through thoughtful planning, fundraising and distribution. Through CharitySmith The Thomas J. Valentine Memorial Fund is now an established non-profit memorial fund.

The Naval SEAL Foundation is a national non-profit 501(C)3 dedicated to honoring all who have served in the U.S. Navy sea commando services and committed to perpetuating their heritage, values, and traditions. Our overarching mission is to guarantee the firm financial footing necessary to insure the health and welfare of our families, supporting the education of our children, and collecting, preserving, and perpetuating the history and heritage of our courageous Naval Commandos.
Embedded in our mission is a wide array of supporting goals and objectives considered essential to representing a community of dedicated personnel, whose courage and bravery reach back to World War II and is carried on today by the men who proudly serve as members of the U.S. Navy SEAL and Special Boat Teams. The active-duty component of this community is comprised of less than 5,000 Navy SEAL and Special Warfare Combatant Craft operators, reservists, and supporting technicians. The NSW Foundation is a proud member of the prestigious and nationally recognized Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), where we work in partnership with the UDT-SEAL Association, the national fraternal organization of U.S. Navy Frogmen, SEALs and SWCCs.
A note from Christina.
When we started the Tommy V Challenge it was a way to honor Tom, his service to his country and his sacrifice. The Tommy V Challenge was going to be a one time event.
However, the outpouring of support and love for Tom was unbelievable. It was then I realized the true impact Tom had made within the community. And so the The Tommy V Challenge took on a new purpose, to serve as a way to honor all our FALLEN SEALs and a way to help suppport all of our SURVIVING FAMILIES.
Since I am one of those families I understand all to well the needs, worries and fears our Surviving Families face.
Tom led by example, he loved and cared for his men, his teammates, his country and most importantly he never forgot those men or the families that had died before him in the fight against terrrorism.
I have made it my mission to carry on Tom's fight and to honor and remember our Fallen SEALs, care for their families in whatever way I can. It is absolutely the right thing to do.
August 6th was another terrible and tragic reminder of why we must continue on and never forget our FALLEN SEALs and the SURVIVING FAMILIES.
Please join me, please help me care for our surviving families today and everyday.
A very special THANK YOU TO ANNE, RACHEL, TERESA, SARAH AND BILL FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SUPPORT IN MAKING EACH TOMMY V CHALLENGE BIGGER AND BETTER. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
